Release Date: February 1, 2009
Publisher: Harcourt
Age Group: Young Adult
Synopsis:
The undead can really screw up your senior year ...Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancĂ©. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destructionLoved it! I really enjoyed this book. Having previously read Fantaskey's Jekel Loves Hyde, I was sure how much I would enjoy this one. But turns out I loved it so much I finished it in a day!
Lucius was an interesting character. He was funny, charming and even sometimes annoying. This made his character all the more believable. I really loved the letters he wrote to his uncle every couple of chapters, describing his adaption to the United States. I thought it was funny to read all the things he found strange and annoying about the culture.
I really liked Jessica from the beginning. She is strong willed, stubborn, and independent. But her being stubborn worked against her. It made her realization about being a vampire a little too late. The chemistry between Jessica and Lucuis was absolutely toe-curling perfect. Beth Fantaskey kept the tension going in unexpected directions!
Overall, I absolutely adored the book and I am all too excited for its sequel, Jessica Rules the Dark Side!
